Notes
- "Thomas W. Seamans. Father of Ethel Seamans Dumond (Granny). Since Ethel was his only offspring that had children (remember Aunt Lilly?), we cousins are his only descendants. His father (also Thomas Seamans) was in the First Arkansas Infantry, Company H (Crockett's Rifles). He was wounded the second day of the Battle of Shiloh, taken aboard the Union hospital boat the D.A. January to a hospital in Covington, Kentucky where he died."

"The second day of the battle of Shiloh was 7 April 1862 (survived his wounds 51 days!). The Union hospital boat was the DA January. I have a book based on letters written by the Dr. on the DA January to his younger sister in NY. He does not mention any patients' names, but does mention how unhappy he was that the Union Hospital in Cincinatti would not take Confederate wounded and that they had to find another place for Confederates. He mostly did wound dressings and pain management, although he was excited when he got to do an amputation."
