Notes

  • In 1880, after the death of her stepfather William Peter Christian, Joan Lee Long is reproted by the enumerator with her mother's last married name.  It appears from a couple of minimally-documented but seemingly-credible family genealogies and families around them in the censuses that Elizabeth Long's maiden name was Dickerson.  In 1920 her son William is living next door to a family named Dickerson, and in his household is one Eliza Dickerson, age 15 years older than William.

Even though Lea (Lee) was reported as a widow in 1900, when she and her daughter were living in her mother's home, in 1910 she was back with her husband John H Tate.  In 1910 Lea's daughter is reported as Eval L, but her age makes her a match for Cora of 1900.  The census reports that Lea has had only one child.
