Notes
- James P Burrell, Birth 1790
Germantown, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania
Death [Jun. 9, 1863 Vicksburg, Warren County, Mississippi]
[it seems like this date is for his son James Henry who was born in 1832. It is thus reported by genealogies. In 1863, James P would have been 73 years old, and surely did not fight at Vicksburg]
Married Nancy Elizabeth Darby about 1815
They had 6 children:
Mary, William Riley (1817 - 1894)
John Berry
Anne Elizabeth (1822 - 1849)
Isabella Avilla, and
James Henry

The sequence of the census listing looks like Lucinda is James Henry's wife. And Lucinda is the name of one of his two wives reported by some genealogies. But note that the first child under Lucinda, either Jamie or Jane (spelled Jame by the enumerator) is 5 years old. James Henry and Lucinda are too young to have a child 5 years old.
The 1860 census is helpful here, because these two girls are still in the home of James and Nancy, but James Henry and his wife are not there. And this time the girls are given the surname of Jenkins. This helps us put them with the proper family line and maybe their parents. Further the baby in 1850 called Elizabeth is enumerated as Mary Jenkins in 1860.
The characteristics of these two girls match pretty closely to be the children of James and Peter's daughter Ann Elizabeth Burell and her husband Samuel Jenkins. The oldest girl Jane would match their daughter Jane Elizabeth, whose birthday was October 1846. The younger one is younger than the last child of Sam and Ann Elizabeth. Ann Elizabeth died in childbirth with their daughter Mary Ann on 11 January 1949. But this is a problem since the youngest child in the 1950 census above is reported as only one month old, which would mean she was born in 1850 And the name Elizabeth for the baby does not fit what we now from other sources. Maybe the girls are from separate related families. At any rate we now know their surname is Jenkins and not Burell.

According to the following genealogy, Lucinda died a little over a year after the 1850 census.

If both the above marriage reports are correct, then Lucinda died the year after the census, and James remarried some time after that.
Confederate Military records for James lack his birth date. This may be one reason some researchers have confused him with his 73-year-old father in identifying his military burial place.
