Peter Christian 56 M W Farmer England
Polly A Christian 36 F W Alabama
Daniel Christian 12 M W Mississippi
In 1880, there is another Christian family 2 houses down from Bart. A Gain (?) P Christian is the same age as Bart, 23. His characteristics are close to those for Daniel in other reports. Perhaps "Gain" is a mis-write for Zene. Both "Gain P" and Bart were born in Mississippi. The father of both was born in England, which makes it seem that both Gain and Bart are sons of Peter. And it appears on final analysis that Daniel and Bartlett were born only one year apart, as recorded in 1870: Daniel age 11 and Daniel age 12.
There is no child in 1860 that would match Gain's age. But this is consistent with great age variations in this family, as indeed in many of the census reports in this period of history. Between the 1860 and 1870 censuses, there is only a 4-year difference in the age reported for Daniel, from 8 to 12!
In the 1880 census, a Henry Christian, age 13, is living with Gain and described as a brother, born in Texas, father born in England, mother Alabama, which matches Peter and his second wife. These characteristics match the child Henry, last-born of Polly/Mary Waldon Christian. This strengthens the likelihood that "Gain" is "Daniel Zene." In addition, the wife of Gain matches Elizabeth, Daniel's wife, in name and age.
Circumstantially, further, we note that all these brothers remain close together in their move through different Texas Counties and into Oklahoma Territory and to their death in the Mountain View-Oakdale Area of Kiowa-Washita Counties, Oklahoma.

The report of birthplaces for Waller and parents is odd. It shows exactly the same as for Elizabeth, as though he were her brother, rather than her son. But it seems highly likely this is Zene and Elizabeth's son, but the enumerator made an error. It appears that Waller's entry should show TX MS TX.
In 1900 Zene is still in Cass County, Texas with his family, but he is now a widow.

In the 1920 census, Daniel Zene is living with his son Daniel W in Kiowa County, Oklahoma. Though therte is a discrepancy in age form that reprote din 1900, this would be the child reprotd as Walter in 1900 and Waller in 1880. But the ages in 1900 and 1880 match. The clincher on brith year, however, is the 1880 census, since he had to be born becfoe the 1880 census, and not in 1881 as his age in 1910 woudl erroneously suggest.
The marital status field is blank, but it would appear he is a widower. Note that his age is only 8 years older than in 1920. Here his birth state is reported as Tennessee rather than Mississippi as in 1880 and 1900, and again in 1920.

By 1920, Daniel is clearly reported as a widower. He is now living with his son Jack in McCurtain County, Oklahoma, in the southeastern corner with Arkansas and Texas. This census keeps up the tradition of varied birth years, reporting him as 64 and thus born about 1855. There is an anomaly here on Daniel Zene's birth sate. His record reports he was born in Mississippi, while Jack's records reports his father was born in Missouri (perhaps is was meant to be Mississippi, consistent with most previous records.)
