"I am the sole surviving child, born 1933, of Oscar M. Strange andGrace Ellen Strange, nee Rinehart. ... A letter from Eli Strange tobrothers Oscar and George, written in 1946 or so,  gave some insightto their childhood experiences.  A son of George Strange gave me acopy of the letter and that helped to get me started on my research."
    ...
A cousin, who died several years ago, gave a handwritten list ofbirths and deaths for the children of Wm. M. Strange and Lizzy Strange, nee Holbert.  After comparing the list with census information, Ibelieve the information to be accurate.

    Child                                Born                Died

    1.  Gracie                        1893                1899 (a)
    2.  Oscar M.                    1895                1960
    3.  Sara A                        1898                    ?           Sara A. (Alla?), was known to me as Aunt "Elle"..
    4.  Luther                        1899                1900  (b)
    5.  George E.                  1900                1983
    6.  Not known                  1902                1902
    7.  Eli                               1904                1964
    8   James                        1907                1923

Notes (a & b):  1900 Census for Lizzy Strange, Mother, listed 4 born &3 living children.   I am inclined to believe that Gracie died priorto census and Luther afterwards.  That would account for the 4 bornand 3 living notation.

The child enumerated here as Mitchel O matches the child listed in1900 as Osker M.  I have no other clues to indicate whether Oscar orMitchel is the first name.  Note also that now Luther does not appear. This child, born in January 1900, would have been 10 in January 1910. But I see there is a 10--year-old in the 1910 census, only his nameis George.  This makes it seem that George is the same child as LutherR.  Combine Luther R and George would make an awkward name.  But itappears the best solution, given no further details.

The name following Gracie appears to be Alla.  Alla matches the childpreviously reported as Sarah A.  Perhaps the name was meant to beElla, which would match the 1910 census name of Sarah E.  Mamina isMack's second wife.  Eliza died in 1911, according to her gravememorial on Find a Grave.  The memorial does not include a photo ofthe gravestone.  No marriage record has been found for this secondwife, nor any further records.

William Mack Strange is buried in Strange Cemetery on Muddy HollowRoad, off Rainwater School Road, in South Jefferson County, Tennessee.

A memorial is posted on Find a Grave.  It has no photo of thegravestone.
