Notes

  • Mississippi Marriages, 1776-1935
    Mary A. Bennett
    Spouse Joseph W. Philpott
Marriage 27 Jan 1853 Alcorn County

In 1860 Mary and Joseph are in Tishomingo County, Mississippi, but Isee that their first son John W was born in Mississippi.  Some latercensuses report him born in Alabama, some say Mississippi.  He is 6years old here, so if he was born in Alabama they  moved toMississippi after 1854, when John was born in Alabama.  But if the1860 census is the correct one, they would have moved from Alabamabefore 1854.

The census reports J W as married, rather than widowed.  I have notfound any family genelalogy that has a death date or burialinformation for Mary Bennett Philpot.  This is the last census inwhich I have found J W.  His son James Isaac moved to IndianTerritory.
