- One early anonymous genealogy reported Dixie's birth year as 1870. However, she does not appear in the 1880 census, and in the 1900 census she is reported as 16 years old, with a reported birth date of September 1883.

The Find a Grave memorial for Dixie Butler includes her obituary. A problem occurs here with Dixie's birth date, also as reported in the 1900 census, being 2 years after the reported date of death of her mother Sarah A Brown Butler. Her burial monument has her death date as 23 August 1881. The record of her death in the family Bible, however, is 23 August 1888. It appears that the monument, set up when Sallie was reburied form her original burial spot on the family land to the cemetery, was engraved with the incorrect date.
Also there is a younger brother, Thomas David Butler, born in 1885, also listed in the family Bible birth list. Some birth dates in this list have been erased and some overwritten with supposed corrections. The year of Dixie's birth has been erased, with no new date being written over it. The day of birth is 2 September. The month matches the 1900 census, which reports birth in September 1883.

Services for Mrs. Roy King, 310 School Street, who died Sunday morning at 8 at the Coahoma County Hospital, were held this morning [date uncertain] at 11:00 at the family residence with the Reverend Garland Holloman pastor of the Clarksdale Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in Grange Cemetery. Mrs. King had been ill for about two weeks.
Mrs. King, a native of Coahoma County was born near Jonestown on the Butler Place. She was the former Miss Dixie Butler and was the daughter of Mr. George Washington Butler and Mrs. Sally A. Brown Butler. She was 65. She was a member of the Jonestown Methodist Church. Mrs. King leaves a husband and two daughters, Miss Margaret Anderson of Clarksdale, and Mrs. D. F. Nelson of Larchmount, N.Y. She also leaves a brother, G. W. Butler of Jonestown, and a sister, Mrs. G. A. Cox, of Jackson.
