In 1900, Sam and Mamie (Mayme) are living in Watertown, New York withhis sister Hattie and her husband Oscar Lewis.  Their 1-year-old sonEvert (Everett) is reports as born in Missouri in January 1899.

Note the change in reported birthplace of Samuel's parents in the 1910census.  In 1900 the records for him and his sister Hattie are thesame, father born in Kentucky, mother born in Tennessee. In 1910, bothSam's parents are reported born in Pennsylvania.

Also Everett was reported born in Missouri, but in 1910 he is reportedborn in Nebraska, where they are now living.  It seems Missouri is themost likely place of birth for Everett.  They married in Missouri, then were living in New York in 1900, then moved to Nebraska, whereRuss was born.

The 1920 census provides us another creative report on the birthplacesof Sam's parents, with the father and mother now both reported born inMissouri as Sam was.  In fact it appears he thought the whole familylooked like Missourians, except Harold, who is reported as born inNebraska.  I don't know why the enumerator would have understood MaryPat's name as Sarah.
