Robert was divorced from his first wife Lucinda in 1865, but the divorce was not final until 2 August 1865, after he married Mary. This is no doubt why they went to Illinois to marry in April 1865.

I have not learned where Robert and Lucinda's children were in 1870. Mary's son John from her previous marriage is in their household, with Lizzie, born in about 1867, a couple of years after her marriage to Robert Boyd. John is reported with the surname Boyd.
