  • The first record I found for Margaret was the 1860 census, when she is reported as a 1-year-old child with her family in Douglas County, Missouri.

Sevices for Marguriet Jane Green, 96, (Note from Janet she was 97) will be at 2p.m. Friday in the first Baptist Church here.  Burial is to be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Pauls Valley, with Bahner Funeral home in charge

She was born in Douglas County, MO, and came to this state in 1901, moving to Davis six years ago. (note from Janet: the land rush was 1906, so it should have said 1906 not 1901)  Her childhood was spent in Texas.

[The date of 1901 is likely correct.  The Oklahoma Land Rush, officially called the Oklahoma Land Run, took place in stages from 1889 to 1906.  The first land run was in 1889, in the Unassigned Lands, before the declaration of Oklahoma Territory.  The last Run took place in 1906 December. with "Big Pasture" lands opened by bids, before the declaration of the State of Oklahoma in November 1907.  The Chickasaw and Choctaw Nations took the first step toward white settlement when in 1897 they agreed to the pressure of the US government to abolish the Nations' governments and communal land ownership.  --  Orville Boyd Jenkins,  ref Oklahoma Land Openings, 1889-1907, OKGenWeb, http://www.okgenweb.org/~land/]
