Ambrose married in 1845. A descendant, Sharon, sent me a copy of the wedding announcement, newspaper unknown, exact date unknown, in July 1845, probably 1 July.

I have found no record of Ambrose with Nancy. In the 1850 census, a record that appears to be for him has his wife as Lavina. Maybe Nancy's full name was Nancy Lavnia. Or is this just a very similar couple?
In 1850, Ambrose and his wife Lavina are enumerated in neighboring DeKalb County, to the north of Cherokee County, Alabama. Ambrose' sister Matilda and her family are in his household.
1850 Federal Census, DeKalb County, Alabama, 17 December, Division 25, p 737 (scan 368), Hse/Fam #581
A Greene 31 M Farmer $no value stated for Real Estate b South Carolina [born abt 1819]
Lavina Greene 23 F Georgia Cannot read or write [born abt 1827]
Mary Greene 10 F Alabama [born abt 1840]
Ally Greene 8 F Alabama [born abt 1842]
Montveal [Montreal?] Israel 25 M Farmer $no value stated for Real Estate b North Carolina [born abt 1825]
Matilda Israel 23 F South Carolina Cannot read or write [born abt 1827]
Taylor Israel 2 M B Alabama [born abt 1848]
Also enumerated are his sister Matilda and her husband Monterville Israel and their 2-year-old son William Taylor. This is the second enumeration for the Israel family, who were enumerated on 11 January 1850. The census date for 1850 was 1 January, and Monterville, Matilda and Taylor were enumerated in Cherokee County on 11 January.
Apparently it took 11 months (17 December) for the authorities to get to DeKalb across the county line to the north to enumerate Ambrose and his neighbors! I suspect the farm they are working in DeKalb County is very near their farm home in Cherokee County, since they are all enumerated in Cherokee County in 1840 and 1860.
Several family genealogies report that Ambrose died in 1856, but none of them tell how they know this or provide documentation.
