It appears that Alvis and Jane moved to Indian Territory, as there aregraves for them both and two of their sons and one of the wives, inChickasha, Oklahoma.  But there is also a burial plot with a militarymarker in Clarinda,  Page County, Iowa, where they lived and wereenumerated int eh above censuses.  That military marker has no datesor places of birth or death.  The weight of fact seems to indicatethat Alvis also moved with the family, but died soon afterward.

He died in 1872, according to Jane's 1880 declaration.  She was livingin Grayson County, Texas, just across the Red River, in 1880, for thecensus and her pension application, both in July 1880.  Some of thechildren lived in Oklahoma Territory or Chickasaw Nation.
